How to Order Dubia Roaches From Our Farm

Learn how to order Dubia roaches from our farm: send a request, check pack sizes, and see how we ship in hot weather.

Gary Becker has raised Dubia roaches for 12 years, and the farm keeps 45 colonies. Ordering from us starts with a short request. Below you will find how to order, which sizes and packs we have, how we ship in hot weather, and what we do if a box arrives dead.

How do I order Dubia roaches?

You send us a request, and we answer it. Here are the three steps.

We raise every bug here. How many roaches are ready changes with our colonies. That is why we check first and confirm after.

Your state matters too. Rules on live insects change from state to state. We check that we can ship live insects to your state before we accept your order.

What is the smallest pack I can get?

The smallest pack we send is 25. We also sell packs of 50, 100, 500, 1,000, and 10,000. Packs of 10,000 come only in extra small and small.

Steps, not to scale

  • We start at 25. That is the smallest pack we send.
  • Packs of 10,000 come in extra small and small.

Our Dubia roaches come in six sizes. We sort them by width. Whole totes go through the sorters every 30 to 45 days. A tote can hold 15,000 to 25,000 babies. A bug drops through the first hole it fits, and that is what puts it in a size. Here is what our size guide says each size is for.

  • Extra small: hatchlings and tiny geckos, just out of the egg.
  • Small: young reptiles that have started growing fast.
  • Medium: juveniles.
  • Large: grown bearded dragons and adult geckos.
  • Extra large: big adults that need a full meal in one bite.
  • Adult: large reptiles, and keepers who breed their own.

We keep extra large in short supply, so we send it alongside other sizes.

Width is what has to fit, so we sort by width. You can use the same measure at home. For bearded dragons and most lizards, never feed a bug wider than the space between your reptile's eyes. A bug that is too big is hard to swallow. Snakes, chameleons, and tortoises feed differently, so ask a vet or a keeper who knows that species. To use the rule, follow these steps.

  • Look at your reptile from the front.
  • Find the space between its eyes.
  • Pick a Dubia roach no wider than that space.

Illustration, not a photograph. This reptile is computer generated, and it is here to show you where to measure on your own animal.

If it looks wider than the gap between the eyes, it is too big.

Why can I only get a few adults?

Adults are our breeding stock, so we sell them in small numbers. They are the stock the whole farm runs on. Ten thousand adults would be about ten colonies of breeding stock. Those colonies make the babies that grow into every other size.

If you keep large reptiles or breed your own, adults may be what you are looking for. Tell us how many you want in your request, and we will tell you what we can send. We look at what is ready that week and come back to you with an answer.

Do you ship when it is hot outside?

Yes, with limits.

Shipping in hot weather
85°
  1. 1We stop when it gets hotWe hold orders when it hits 85 degrees. Heat is the fastest way to lose a box of Dubia roaches, so we wait for a better day.
  2. 2We pack extra when it is warmOn warm days we add extra bugs at no charge, and we tell you before the box goes out.

Our shipping also uses heat packs and cold holds.

Once the box is at your door, take care of the tub. Keep it out of a car, out of the sun, and away from a heater.

What happens if my roaches arrive dead?

We make it right. We replace the order or refund it.
